India looks to join Paris Agreement on climate change

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that India will work towards joining the Paris Agreement on climate change this year, in a further move in the international fight to curb global warming. India is the world’s third largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the US. The US also plans to ratify the agreement this year, according to President Barak Obama who met with Modi at the White House on 7 June. However, presidential contender Donald Trump says he will throw out any agreement if elected.
