Libyan factions agree unified oil organisation

Rival Libyan factions have agreed in principle to have a unified oil organisation in this strife-torn country, according to a statement by Foreign Minister Mohammed Siyala in the UN-backed national unity government. ‘These institutions can only be managed centrally,’ he told reporters in Vienna. ‘There is an agreement on the basic points and principles and now we’re waiting for the implementation.’ Libya, an Opec member, is expected to resume oil shipments from the port of Marsa El Hariga once a deal is reached in Vienna by rival oil officials representing the east and west of the country, reports Reuters.
