Olkiluoto nuclear performance
The operator of Finland’s Olkiluoto plants 1 and 2 has reported that unit 1 produced its second best yearly production result in 2015, of 7.4 TWh; and that the combined production of the plants in 2015 was 14.3 TWh of electricity with a 92.7% load factor.
Olkiliuoto unit 2 was interrupted by a generator failure in February, leading to an 89% load factor. The performance figures for 2015 were the eighth largest in the plants’ 36-year history – and are partly due to a series of upgrade projects from 2010 to 2012.
Late last year we reported that the dogged Olkiluoto 3 unit, under construction and much delayed, will not start till 2018 at the earliest.
