Tidal power for France
The first of two OpenHydro tidal turbines has been successfully deployed on EDF’s Paimpol-Bréhat site. The 16 m diameter turbine was towed out to sea in late January.
The project will be among the world’s first grid-connected turbine arrays. OpenHydro says the new turbine will allow them to prepare for the Normandie Hydro project, which aims to have seven tidal turbines installed in the Raz Blanchard by 2018.
