Nuclear Decommissioning Authority: draft strategy

This consultation document presents Nuclear Decommissioning Authority's (NDA) current strategy, setting out strategic direction and long-term objectives.

An early version of the draft strategy was published in September 2015 for a period of informal engagement with stakeholders. The NDA has now published the NDA response to comments from stakeholders.

The NDA would like to hear from members of the public, nuclear regulators, employees within our Site Licence Companies (SLCs), trade unions, local authorities, Site Stakeholder Groups (SSGs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and any other organisations or public bodies.

This consultation focuses on a series of questions seen throughout the document. However, the NDA is happy to receive comments on how the strategy or its implementation can be improved and these will be considered where appropriate.

In support of this strategy the NDA has undertaken an integrated impact assessment (IIA), which identifies environmental, socio-economic and health impacts of implementing our strategy. They have also updated the value framework, which provides a toolkit for decision-making and ensures transparency when comparing and assessing options.

It is anticipated that the finalised strategy will be published in April 2016.
