Vestas has installed the UK’s most powerful onshore wind turbine at the Sanquhar II wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
The V162-6.2MW EnVentus wind turbine is the first of 44 units planned for the 308MW project.
Once operational, the site is set to become the UK’s fourth largest onshore wind farm, according to developer CWP Energy.
The EnVentus model was selected for its higher power rating and operational flexibility, enabling the project to maximise the strong wind resources in the Dumfries and Galloway region, Vestas said in a social media post.
Vestas currently has more than 600MW of EnVentus projects under construction across the UK.
