Energy World May 2012
Capturing carbon emissions – this issue includes an article from the Global CCS Institute that summarises the state of play with large-scale carbon capture and storage projects around the world; see page 14 onwards. We also include articles on monitoring CCS projects and a viewpoint on the prospects for this ‘critical’ technology in the UK.
The other main focus area is energy used in buildings – articles from page 24 onwards discuss district heating for new build housing projects; the performance of energy-use modelling; and the proposed Green Deal, under which homes and business premises are to be upgraded to better energy performance.
Away from these two themes we also include two articles on power networks: how London’s distribution system is being changed to meet future low carbon needs, and plans for linking national power, and gas, networks across Europe.
