Petroleum Review May 2013

This month’s issue takes a closer look at some of the latest developments in the deepwater and subsea arena, including a review of key considerations for the selection of production platform technologies and the latest innovations in the subsea vehicle sector.

We also highlight Kazakhstan’s ongoing E&P plans, including the coming onstream of the Kashagan field this summer, regarded as the most expensive and challenging oil field in the world.

Our ‘energy policy’ section includes a review of Europe’s electricity sector, where the EU’s low carbon energy policy appears to have fragmented the sector on national lines and led to rising consumer prices and increased political tension. We also look at recent energy policy developments in Hawaii, where the focus is on establishing LNG imports to meet domestic power demands.

In addition, we examine production performance from the main quoted oil and gas companies across the globe, noting that 2012 saw a continued fall in oil output while gas production reached record highs despite some of the largest companies recording declines.
