Bangladesh continues on fast track

Bangladesh’s cabinet has approved a four-year extension of a law giving the government authority to bypass existing legislation in the energy and power sectors in order to fast track projects. Under this special law, the government has already approved and implemented projects including the award of a licence to Gazprom to drill 10 onshore gas wells, and contracts for three major gas transmission pipeline projects.
