J Baldwin, The drive for biogas autofuels, Petroleum Review, August 2007, p 38

In UK, a conference at Loughborough on 1 May 2007 outlined the increasing application of biomethane to transport. Worldwide there are 11 500 NG refuelling stations, with about 7 mn NG vehicles, the number rising by 20% annually. Using dual-fuel technology, NG can substitute up to 90% of diesel in HGV operations, saving over 30 tonnes/year of CO2 for a 44 tonne truck. Whereas a local electricity generator can sell its output to the grid, the same does not apply to a local gas generator.
