To secure future energy requirements and reduce supposed global warming emissions a government programme for replacing ageing nuclear reactors and adding to them would be timely.given that renewables and energy efficiency are unlikely to produce the desired result. While some ministers are opposed to the nuclear option on grounds of expense and the amount of nuclear waste that has to be housed in this country they seem willing, as does the country at large, to enjoy the benefetis of hydrocarbon and nuclear energy. However, serious resolve on reducing gas emissions is urgent and .requires a decision
