Hydrogen fuel cells as a commercially viable power source moved closer to reality yesterday after Rolls-Royce outlined plans to develop a prototype by 2008, investing £53m in building a power source to replace gas and diesel generators. They plan to build a portable power source that generates one megawatt of electricity - enough for 200 households. They plan to sell it to small businesses, office buildings and power generation companies as alternative or back-up power supplies
