Details are given of the treatment of dense-phase natural gas with fixed-bed technology which has been proven effective and economic at the North Sea terminal for Central Area Transmission System (CATS). The central Graben development is described, and the dense-phase operation, testing, mercury removal, and material handling is examined. The gas processing plant is discussed and LPG fractionation, and operating experience are described. 4 refs.
