Just-in-time engineering speeds design and construction. P. van Hoorickx. Hydrocarbon Processing, May 1999, 78(5) 51--53.

The concept of just-in-time (JIT) engineering is recommended for large industrial projects such as green-field refineries, fine chemicals plants. and petrochemical plants. JIT engineering represents a significant step forward in electrical heat tracing design and installation. This technology provides new ways to minimize front-end financial risks, reduce costs, and improve plant design. Features of JIT engineering technology are reviewed and optimization techniques are applied to critical components such as heating cable, power distribution, distribution wiring, and thermal insulation. JIT engineering takes heat tracing design and installation off the critical path so that it no longer affects the overall project schedule.
