The use is described of DMC plus multivariable control to maximize the profitability of the 255 000 b/d crude and vacuum unit at the Marathon Ashland Garyville La., refinery. An overview is presented of DMC plus control, control system implementation and benefits, the kerosine mode-switch benefit, and various intangible benefits.
