Automation helps enhance pipeline's engine control. Anon. Pipeline Gas J., February 1999, 226(2), 38--40.

Design of a universal engine control system and its associated computer software is described. The pipeline system has 57 integral compressors of 11 different models and manufactured by Cooper Bessemer, Dresser Clark, and Ingersol-Rand. The largest engine in the system is a Dresser Clark TCV-16 and this is selected for the development of engine control systems. Engine design features and software development are described. The work is then extended to include engine type differences such as two-cycle or four-cycle and turbocharged or mechanical blower engines. These different modules are developed to cover operational differences with each engine type.
