Foam cementing cyclic-steam, producing wells. Anon. JPT, August 1998, 50(8), 81, 82. (Synopsis SPE paper 46215).

Consideration is given to reasons for the selection of foamed cement for cementing the production casing. Details are presented of its application and the process improvements are described. Improved primary-cementing results were demonstrated in volumes of actual cement return to surface, number of lower-cost packerless completions and containment of injected steam. Contact-temperature logs routinely run as part of the well-management system indicate no unrestricted steam migration behind production casing, and well mortality was dramatically reduced.
