Hybrid methanol-production process. F. Kiso and N. Arashi. Appl. Energy, February-March 1998, 59(2/3), 215--228.
A hybrid process for producing methanol using coal gasification and natural-gas reforming simultaneously is proposed. It is considered that it may contribute to transporting energy across the ocean at high efficiencies and at the same time, help solve a number of major environmental problems and provide a way of sustaining a stable energy supply. Tabulated and graphical data are presented and a cost-derivation algorithm of the hybrid methanol process is appended. 15 refs.
