Consideration is given to the question of the final disposal of plastics. Whereas about 20% of used plastics can be re-used, the remainder must either be recycled into petrochemical feedstock or they can be used as reducing agents in thermal processes or as fuel. Attention is drawn to both the economic and ecological aspects of the problem.
