Rationalization and unification of aviation greases. C.V. Chandrasckharan and J.R. Nanda. NLGI Spokesm., February 1998, 61(11), 8--17.

The requirements of greases used in aircraft applications are reviewed. The main areas considered are wheel bearings, moving parts of the fuselage, hot zones of engines, parts in contact with fuel, and protectives. Tabulated summaries are given for aviation greases of western and eastern origin. The data show grade, specification, product description, and general applications. Two case histories describe successes in a rationalization/unification approach. One is unification of landing gear wheel bearing greases, the other is rationalization of multiple greases of Russian origin by a single grade.
