Natural gas for vehicles. (In French). S. De Chauveron. Rev. Inst. Francais Petrole, September-October 1996, 51(5), 729--741.

Details are presented of both the economic and technical assets of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles, which can provide considerable advantages both as an alternative fuel and as a clean fuel. The development of natural gas as a motor fuel can help cut vehicle pollutant emissions dramatically and consideration is given to this aspect. Attention is also drawn to the specific technical features of CNG as compared to gasoline and diesel oil. Current European research, cost reductions, and regulatory action are also discussed.
