Pyrolysis of polycyclic polyhydroarenes Part 1. 9-n-dodecylperhydroanthracene. R.E. Humburg and P.E. Savage. Ind. Engng. Chem. Res., July 1996, 35(7), 2096--2012.
9-n-dodecylperhydroanthracene (DDPA), a prototypical long chain n-alkylnaphthalene, was pyrolysed neat and in benzene at temperatures between 400 and 450 degrees C. Reaction kinetics and primary reaction products were determined. A mechanism involving four parallel free radical chain reactions is proposed. 22 refs.
