Enclosed ground flare system burns gases economically with minimum environmental impact. G.K. Selle. Hydrocarbon Processing, March 1996, 75(3), 67--70.

The Kaldair Enclosed Ground Flare is described and illustrated. It is a natural draft system developed jointly with BP and features a thin film flame principle. The main components are a high performance fin plate burner, an advanced fluidic wind fence, and a refractory lined enclosure. The burner achieves efficient, smokeless, low Nox, and low luminosity combustion. Noise emissions are extremely low. The ceramic fibre lining is durable, versatile, and resistant to thermal shock and it is unaffected by adverse weather conditions. The burner is modularized for easy assembly. Applications are discussed and 12 major advantages are listed.
