Key areas of the EC environmental policy of interest to the oil industry are highlighted, with the main consideration being given to air pollution issues. Control of volatile organic compound emissions, automated exhaust emissions/motor fuel qualities, sulphur emissions, and integrated pollution prevention and control are discussed. Attention is drawn to the proposal for an EC pollution emissions register.
