Details are given of the types of formation evaluation tools that are available for geosteering together with examples of their application. Drillpipe-conveyed, coiled-tubing-conveyed, pumpdown logs, and logging-while-drilling tools are all approaches which can be used in geosteering. Interpretation issues for horizontal well logs, and examples of geosteering in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea are presented. 10 refs.
