Training needs analysis---a human factors analysis tool. C.W. Griffiths and A. Lees. Quality Reliability Engng. Internat., November-December 1995, 11(6), 435--438.

The role of training needs analysis (TNA) is discussed. It offers a structured methodology to facilitate the information gathering process and to identify any shortfall between current users performance and that demanded by new technology and designs. The training requirements process is considered and a usual methodology is proposed for contractors conducting a TNA in the design of new systems/equipment. It is of particular use where information on the operation and maintenance may be limited.
