Details are given of a practical method for predicting sand production in gas wells and the results are reported of its application in 13 fields in the US gulf coast area. The tool comprises an analytical solution, a hand calculation, and a log analysis programme for foot by foot evaluation. This method enabling gravel-pack decisions to be made between logging and completion operations. 5 refs.
