Catalytic reformer-combustor---a novel reactor concept for synthesis gas production. L. Mleczko, S. Malcus and T. Wurzel. Ind. Engng. Chem. Res., November 1997, 36(11), 4459--4465.

The reactor consists of two interconnected fluidized beds. Heat needed for the endothermic CO2 reforming is generated by catalytic combustion of methane over a reforming catalyst. Circulation of solid catalyst particles is used for heat transfer and catalyst regeneration. Experimental studies of CO2 reforming and catalytic combustion of methane over a Ni/ Al2O3 catalyst are reported to demonstrate the feasibility of the concept. 33 refs.
