Cloud point measurements of base oils. M. Al-Ahmad and M.E. Abashar. Erdol Erdgas Kohle, May 1997, 113(5), 219, 220.

A preliminary investigation for determination and prediction of the cloud phenomena in simple systems is reported. Three Saudi base oils and three paraffin waxes are considered. An empirical correlation based on superposition technique is developed to predict the cloud phenomenon. This correlation is a function of the type of oil and its viscosity as well as the type of wax. The developed correlation shows a satisfactory agreement with the experimental data with an average deviation of 5.2% and a maximum deviation of 18.2. 13 refs.
