Can integrated reservoir management and technology enhance performance of water and gas floods? G.C. Thakur. J. Can. Petrol. Technol., March 1997, 36(3), 28--35.

The major elements of a successful reservoir management programme are described as data collection management, integration of geoscience and engineering, geostatistics and reservoir characterization, seismic data, reservoir geochemistry, reservoir simulation, economics, and decision analysis. Features in each of these areas are discussed. Four major field studies in western Canada are reviewed. Results show the contributions made by new and integrated technologies. 3-D seismic geostatistical modelling and hybrid simulation, appropriate operational strategies, and effective monitoring and surveillance all contribute to successful reservoir management. 11 refs.
