Details are given of some of the earliest structural engineering studies which were executed soon after the discovery of significant subsidence levels at Ekofisk, through to, and including, some of the major and more recent projects. Included are the Ekofisk jacked-up project, the design and construction of the Ekofisk Protective Barrier, and novel design aspects associated with the recently installed 2/4 X and 2/4 J steel piled jacket structures. Numerous illustrations and tabulated data are presented and discussed. 24 refs.
