Economics of inspecting new and recycling used rolling contact bearings. M. Washo. Lubric. Engng., August 1997, 53(8), 20--27.

Recycling large quantities of small size bearings is described as a unique operational feature that improves reliability, alleviates supply problems, and gives significant cost savings. These advantages are discussed. Bearing centre facilities described include cleaning procedures and physical and dynamic testing equipment. Data on vibration readings and bearing defect limits are tabulated. The type and quantity of lubricant required depends upon the intended use of the bearing. Lubricant applicators and lubricant filling equipment are described and illustrated. Cleaned and lubricated bearings are individually wrapped in acid-free wax paper or polyethylene-coated paper and stored in boxes. Investment and savings costs are summarized.
