Kinetics of catalyst coking in heptane reforming over Pt-Re/Al2O3. K. Liu et al. Ind. Engng. Chem. Res., August 1997, 36(8), 3264--3274.

Using data obtained from a vibrational microbalance and a fixed-bed integral reactor, a kinetic model was developed to predict the coking rate by alkylcyclopentanes and n-heptane. The dependence of coking rate on temperature, the partial pressures of hydrogen and of methylcyclopentane and the amount of coke already on the catalyst is predicted by the model. The use of the model for catalyst accelerated aging studies is briefly discussed. 36 refs.
