Primary pyrolysis and oxidation reactions of linear and branched alkanes. E. Ranzi et al. Ind. Engng. Chem. Res., August 1997, 36(8), 3336--3344.

The simplifying assumptions and kinetic parameters used to develop detailed kinetic schemes of hydrocarbon pyrolysis, partial oxidation and combustion are discussed as is the automatic generation of these reaction mechanisms. Some examples are reported to demonstrate the reliability of the kinetic schemes both in pyrolysis for ethylene production and in oxidation of hydrocarbon mixtures in internal combustion engines. 42 refs.
