The Petrol Retailers’ Association (PRA) is reported to be in full support of the UK government’s decision to delay the introduction of an E10 grade of petrol. In a letter to Norman Baker, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, the PRA Chairman Brian Madderson said that delaying the fuel’s introduction was ‘sensible’, adding that rushing E10 to the market could ‘prove fatal’ for many small rural fuel service stations that are struggling to cope with rising product costs, duty and VAT and thus have limited funds available to cope with changes to their product mix.
