UK tidal power potential could be as much as 153GW

A new Crown Estate report estimates that there is the potential to harness up to 153GW of tidal power capacity in the UK, using three types of technology - tidal stream, tidal range barrage and tidal range lagoon schemes. The Crown Estate has stressed that the report's conclusions are theoretical and further work is needed to clarify the resources that are practically available. The new report is available to download from the Crown Estate website at http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/news-media/news/2012/new-report-shows-extent-of-uk-wave-and-tidal-resources.
