Solar.tif The Japanese technology company Kyocera has shown that two of its solar photovoltaic installations in Sweden and Switzerland have been producing energy for 20 years with only a minimal degradation in performance. Sweden's first grid-connected photovoltaic system (pictured) was built in 1984 in Huvudsta, Stockholm. Since its installation, the façade-mounted system has been providing the residents of an apartment building with solar electricity. The modules were tested by the system owner after an operating period of 23 years showing no significant degradation in energy conversion efficiency. The system consists of 48 polycrystalline Kyocera modules with a total output of 2.1 kW.
