Shell and Petrochina have issued four invitations to tender for front-end engineering and design (FEED) work on their proposed coal seam gas LNG project at Curtis Island, near Gladstone, Queensland, reports Hazardous Cargo Bulletin. The partners are aiming for a first phase of two liquefaction trains, each of 4mn t/y capacity, with total capacity to rise to 16mn t/y in a second phase. A final investment decision (FID) is expected in 2012, with start-up likely in 2017.
