Foster Wheeler has been awarded by Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DOOSAN) a contract for the front-end engineering design (FEED) and technical services for a new gasification plant, based on Shell’s coal-based integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) technology, to be built in South Korea. The plant is to be built at one of the existing coal-fired power plants and the project is partially supported by the Korean government as a part of national Research, Development & Demonstration projects. The IGCC plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
