The theme of Q8Oils’ sponsorship for this year’s Energy Institute Ellis Memorial Lecture was renewables and the environment. The lecture took place on 3 May 2007 at JCB’s UK headquarters at Rochester. Dr Tim Leverton, JCB’s Group Engineering Director, spoke about JCB Dieselmax, the car that smashed the world diesel speed record in 2006. He continued the environmental theme by speaking about the potential for biofuels in record-breaking diesel vehicles. Stuart Dron, Q8Oils’ Head of UK Operations, commented: ‘It’s vital that the energy industry looks to the future in all aspects of its work - both for its own benefit and for the planet’s. At Q8Oils we are moving more and more towards renewable products and processes, so we were delighted to link up with the Energy Institute on this occasion.’ As part of this drive, the Leeds-based firm recently launched a range of renewable hydraulic and industrial oils.
