Shell Gas and Power, Gasunie Trade and Supply, and Polish Oil & Gas Company (POGC) are to jointly study the feasibility of the development of small scale combined heat and power (CHP) plants in Poland to facilitate further development of the domestic natural gas market. The study will focus on the development of gas-fuelled CHP plants to supply electricity and heat to customers in the industrial and commercial market segment with an electrical capacity of between 1 MW and 20 MW. Such CHP plants are, due to their high energy efficiency and decentralised nature, a cost effective and environmentally friendly way of providing energy to a wide range of customers, state the three companies.
