German fuel retailer Aral is to use Aspen Technology’s Aspen RetailTM solution to schedule the distribution of some 10bn l/y of fuel to its 2,500-strong service station network in Germany. Aspen Retail is part of Aspen Technology’s integrated petroleum supply chain solution that will provide Aral with demand forecasting based, automated stock replenishment plans while simultaneously optimising truck utilisation and scheduling. ‘Asset utilisation will be further optimised and excess inventories in fuel stations will be reduced, giving the opportunity to lower overall cost and also capital employed,’ states Aspen Technology.
