The UK International Marine Contractors Association (ICMA) is surveying its members for data collection about the experience and employment profiles of surface supply and saturation divers now working in the industry. ICMA members are concerned that new trainees are not being recruited and that contractors are employing new divers on tightly-budgeted contracts meaning that new trainees are not getting the introductory opportunities in dive teams and further essential offshore experience. Other concerns include the lack of European postgraduate level training programmes in diving medicine.
