Falling carbon price could result in higher bills, energy firms warn

The price of carbon plummeted yesterday by almost 10% on Europe's emissions trading market. Due to the current low carbon price, power companies are unlikely to invest money in new nuclear stations and clean coal plants. Instead they are likely to wait until old 'dirty' coal and gas plants close over the next decade and until power prices rocket before they make investments in new builds.
