Husky plans Tucker oil sands development

Husky Oil is planning to proceed with the Tucker Thermal project, near Cold Lake in north-east Alberta to pump 30,000 barrels per day of heavy oil from oil sands, starting in 2005. The oil independent will employ steam-assisted gravity drainage technology to extract heavy oil from the 250m barrel lease, with production sustained for 25 years. Husky is already a major force in oil sands output with a plant in Lloydminster in Alberta.
