Threat of price war with Opec averted as Moscow agrees production cut
Russia yesterday caved in to Opec demands that it should do more to help world oil prices by agreeing to cut exports by 150,000 barrels a day from the turn of the year. The move gave an immediate boost to the markets, with January crude futures rising 85 cents to $20.14; but it was unclear last night whether Russia had done enough.
