Russia anxious over grip on oil as US firms join Great Game
Article explains the background of Russia's control over oil coming from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and their reluctance to allow pipelines to be built which would lessen their control. Since 11 September Putin has cooperated with the USA and supported military action in the Afghanistan area.
