Canada's oil sand trusts in $2bn combination
CALGARY Canadian Oil Sands Investments and Athabasca Oil Sands Investments have agreed to a merger of the two trusts. The combined trust will have a market capitalization of approximately $2bn and a 21.74% stake in the Syncrude joint venture, the world's largest oil sands mining project. The combined trust will be one of the 12 largest independent oil producers in Canada with expected production this year of more than 50,000 bpd.
