Oil companies and contractors are failing to provide regular training and need to work together to ensure that the industry can offer a suitable environment to attract new recruits, says a new report published today by Aberdeen-based Opito, the upstream oil and gas training organisation. The main reasons for a reluctance to increase the provision of training relates to cost considerations and an inability to envisage the benefits of training, says the report carried out by researchers at the Robert Gordon Institute.
