JAPANESE FIRM'S SAUDI RIGHTS HANG IN THE BALANCE

Analysts have thrown doubt on whether Arabian Oil Co, Japan's biggest oil producer, will be able to hold onto its lucrative oil concession in Saudi territory without agreeing to fund a rail project in the kingdom. AOC this week offered to fund the railroad in return for tax cuts on the crude produced from the oil concession but analysts said the deal was likely to be rejected by the Saudis. AOC's drilling and production rights expire on February 27.
